Brad Mehldau has become the most interesting Jazz piano player to listen to nowadays.He continues the Bill Evans tradition of playing solos that can stand by themselves as standalone entities-something rare today & to be admired. Love his rendition in 5/8 of "I didn't know what time it was". Check it out.

However he also possesses powerful tone as well... but most importantly he manages to surprise the listener with musical expressions & nuances on phrases that are completely new, unique & definitely his..A superb representative of the spectacular new generation of pianists. |
